Red Hot Chili Peppers’ ‘I’m With You’ Tracklist Revealed

“I’m With You” will be the Chilli Peppers’ first studio release since 2006′s “Stadium Arcadium,” a double album that sold 2.3 million copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It will also be their first since guitarist John Frusciante officially departed the band for a second time, in 2009. He was replaced by Josh Klinghoffer.

“I’m With You” is produced by Rick Rubin, who has produced the Chili Peppers’ last five studio releases. In addition to “I’m With You,” Rubin is also working on upcoming albums by Metallica and the Avett Brothers and most recently helmed Adele’s “21.”

There’s a lot riding on the return of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Like the future of rock. Guitars were almost entirely absent from the charts last year, with country band Lady Antebellum and folk group Mumford & Sons being the only guitar based groups to give the digital kids a run for their money (well, what little money is actually changing hands in this download era). Lady Gaga and Adele currently rule the pop charts, and (as I reported last week) trends are moving strongly in favour of female pop artists.

But this summer, a few rock heavyweights return to the fray, and we will find out if we are witnessing the end of the rock era, or just another blip on the pop cycle.

Flea has confirmed that the Red Hot Chili Peppers will be releasing their new album August 30th, 2011. Their new album named “I’m with You” is their tenth studio album. Produced by Rick Rubin and will include lead guitarist Josh Klinghoffer who replaced John Frusciante in 2010.

“We recorded 12 songs and these 12 songs will make it on the record. Be prepared for a great album!"

According to drummer Chad Smith the album will drop the last week in August as fans patiently wait to hear new material and the big reveal: the album title.
