Multi-platinum rock band Evanescence is currently recording in Nashville and intends to finish (except for mixing) its next album by the end of June, singer/pianist Amy Lee tells Billboard.com. The target date to release the album on Wind-up Records is Oct. 4.
“After finishing touring [behind 2006 album "The Open Door"], I just sort of took off and didn’t know what I was going to do next and wasn’t sure if the Evanescence thing would happen again or when it would,” Lee says, adding that she took about 18 months off before she got the urge to start writing music again. “I ended up falling back in love with Evanescence again and wanted to work with the guys, and it became more of a group project.”

“Rolling in the Deep” just keeps barreling through the pop achievements. The song almost single-handedly catapulted Adele atop the Duffy/Winehouse retro-soul pile she’d occupied before, gave her a nice No. 1 perch on the Billboard charts, dethroned Alicia Keys as the singing-competition go-to and got its requisite Glee cover. Beyonce’s back with 4, her follow-up to 2008’s I am… Sasha Fierce. Since Sasha, the vocalist announced that she would be killing off her alter ego and merging her disparate personalities to create music that fused all of her influences into a new, unique sound. It’s an ambitious vision but, unfortunately, one that 4 fails to deliver.
4 has been in production for two-and-a-half years and has involved many mega-producers, including Babyface, Kanye West, Ryan Tedder, and The-Dream. [Read more...]

The encounter begins simply enough. A handsome guy walks into a dank club and makes a beeline for the pretty girl with waist-length, red locks who’s dancing by herself. He moves gently, showing only a hint of force when he grabs her wrists and pins them against the wall. But it’s what happens afterward in Rihanna’s new “Man Down” video that has had critics decrying the clip since it debuted last week.
